The 2024 Kia Soul is a stylish SUV with a spacious interior, excellent fuel economy, and sporty handling. And with numerous standard and available Drive Wise safety and driver assistance technologies, it’s an excellent choice for safety-conscious shoppers.

1. Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist

Helping you stay safer on multi-lane roads and highways, standard Lane Departure Warning uses a camera to detect lane markers and alert you if you’re unintentionally drifting from your lane. If you don’t respond to the alerts, Lane Keeping Assist may help steer you back into your lane. These features won’t be triggered if you use your turn signal to change lanes or if your vehicle speed is less than about 40 mph.

2. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist

Standard on every Soul, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist uses radar to detect vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists in your path ahead. When the system predicts an imminent collision, it will issue audible and visible warnings. If the driver doesn’t respond, it will then apply the brakes automatically to help prevent or mitigate the impact of a collision.

3. Driver Attention Warning

With standard Driver Attention Warning, the Soul monitors driving practices for signs that the driver’s attention has been reduced. When inattentive driving is detected, a visual warning encourages the driver to take a break before continuing to drive.

4. Rear Occupant Alert

Standard Rear Occupant Alert is designed to ensure that no one gets left behind in the Soul’s rear seats. When you exit the vehicle, audible and visual warnings let you know when there’s still someone unattended in the back.

5. Blind-Spot Monitoring Features

With Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance and Lane Change Assist, you can change lanes with added confidence. These features are standard on S, GT-Line, and EX models, and rely on radar sensors to monitor blind spots in adjacent lanes.

When a vehicle is detected in your blind spot, you’ll see a visual indicator in the closest outside mirror. Activating your turn signal in this situation will trigger an audible alert and flashing visual warning. And if you try to change lanes, the system will apply the outer wheel brakes to prevent a collision.

6. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Avoidance

This feature is also standard on Soul S, GT-Line, and EX models, and acts as an extra set of eyes when you’re backing up. Sensors in your rear bumper detect vehicles that are approaching from either side behind you, and alert you with warning sounds and lights. If a collision is imminent, the system can also apply the brakes to prevent or reduce the impact of a collision.
