All new vehicles purchased from your trusted Kia dealer come with an industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program. However, the program includes a suite of limited warranties, which is why understanding what your new Kia warranty covers and for how long can give you added peace of mind on the road.
Limited Basic Warranty
All new Kia vehicles come with a limited basic warranty that offers bumper-to-bumper coverage for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of purchase. This warranty covers all vehicle components against factory defects or manufacturer-related damages, excluding certain wear-and-tear components, such as the air and fluid filters and the spark plugs.
The air conditioning refrigerant is covered for the first year of the warranty period, regardless of mileage. The battery and the components of the audio and entertainment system are covered for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Limited Powertrain Warranty
The basic powertrain warranty is the same length as the basic vehicle warranty and covers all powertrain components, including the engine, transaxle, axle, transmission, differentials, and propeller shafts. For the first 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first, the warranty is transferable to a second owner.
Offered exclusively to a vehicle’s first owner, an extended powertrain warranty offers additional coverage for 60 months or 40,000 miles, whichever comes first, to a total of 10 years (120 months) or 100,000 miles from the date of purchase.
Limited Anti-Perforation Warranty
Your new Kia vehicle is also covered by an anti-perforation warranty for five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty covers rust-through situations but excludes rust or corrosion damage that doesn’t result in perforation, such as damage typically caused by hail, stones, sand, and salt.
Emission Warranty
Under Federal law, all new Kia vehicles come with an emission warranty that covers most emission-performance parts for two years or 24,000 miles from the date of purchase and specific components for 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first.
In California, the basic emission warranty covers most parts for 36 months or 50,000 miles. If your new vehicle is classified as SULEV, the emission warranty will cover against emission defects for 180 months or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
