EV incentives for Uber & rideshare drivers in Hayward & the East Bay
Hayward Kia is a participating RIDE dealership helping eligible California drivers use their approved RIDE incentive toward a qualifying electric vehicle purchase or lease. RIDE is designed for income-qualified, high-volume drivers using Uber, Lyft or HopSkipDrive.
Program eligibility, incentive amounts, funding, vehicle eligibility and approval are determined by RIDE. Pre-qualification is required before purchase or lease for the point-of-sale pathway.
What is the RIDE EV incentive?
RIDE — Rideshare Incentives for Driving Electric — is a statewide California program established by the California Public Utilities Commission to help qualifying high-volume rideshare drivers move into battery-electric or hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
Eligible drivers can pursue either a point-of-sale pathway at a participating dealership or a post-purchase pathway. At a participating dealership, an approved driver can bring the RIDE pre-qualification ID and have the approved incentive applied directly to the qualifying purchase or lease transaction.
New or Used EV
Eligible new and used battery-electric or hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles may qualify. Plug-in hybrids and conventional hybrids do not.
High-Volume Driver
RIDE requires at least 4,500 qualifying passenger trips across participating rideshare platforms during the previous 12 months.
California Driver
Applicants generally must be California residents with a valid California driver's license and meet current program residency rules.
Income Qualified
Household income must meet RIDE requirements, generally at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, or qualify through an accepted income-based program.

The vehicle must be an eligible battery-electric vehicle (BEV) or fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV).
The qualifying vehicle must generally be owned or leased, registered and used in California for rideshare activity for at least 36 months.
